John Lee Pickles
May 11, 1942 - February 28, 2010Mount Olive – Mr. John Lee Pickes, 67, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2010, at Wayne Memorial Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer.
John was born on May 11, 1942 in Lamont, Florida to Lucille Gilliard Pickles of Greenville, Florida and the late Alex Pickles, Sr. He was retired from the US Air Force after twenty years of service where he reached the rank of Master Sergeant. John was also retired from Georgia Pacific after twenty five years of service. He was an active member of the Wayne County Master Gardener Volunteers Association. He was the Wayne County Coordinator for the NC Blue Bird Society and was a member of the North American Blue Bird Society. John maintained an eleven house Blue Bird Trail at Georgia Pacific. He was a member of the Republican National Committee, a member of the Neuse Regional BeeKeepers Association and the NC State BeeKeepers Association. The love of John’s life was his family, gardening, beekeeping and blue birds. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Goldsboro, NC with Rev. William “Billâ€
