Doris Waters Gay
December 27, 1934 - March 02, 2010Goldsboro – Doris Waters Gay, 75, passed away on Tuesday evening at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
A native of Wayne County, Doris was the daughter of the late Mabel Gray Pike and William Arthur Waters. Her step-father was Jack Pike. Doris held several public service jobs, but was most proud as a mother, grandmother and wife.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with Rev. Barry Stallings officiating. Interment will be Friday at 2:00 p.m. in Wayne Memorial Park.
Doris is survived by her husband, Bob Gay of Belfast; her daughters, Janice Gay Bedford and husband Phil, Linda Gay Pate and husband Bill, Donna Gay Potter and husband Elliott; her grandchildren, Lindsay Pate, Robert Gay III, Jake Potter ; her great-granddaughter, Hanna Gay; her best friend and sister-in-heart, Ruby Woodson; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Robert E. Gay, Jr.; her brothers, Buddy Waters, Robert Waters; and her sisters, Dorothy Avery and Helen Peterson.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, NC 27534.
The family will receive friends Thursday following the service at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home.
