Louance Franklin Womble, Sr.
June 13, 1920 - March 10, 2010Goldsboro – Louance Franklin Womble, Sr., 89, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday morning at Pitt Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Womble was born in Wayne County on June 13, 1920 to the late Frank B. Womble and Lela Davis Womble. He was married to the late Ethel Bass Womble. Mr. Womble retired as a mechanic with International Harvester and was a member of Black Jack Free Will Baptist Church. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II.
Graveside services will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in Wayne Memorial Park with Rev. Pete Radford officiating.
Mr. Womble is survived by his son, Louance Franklin Womble, Jr. of Pikeville; his daughter, Joan Ellen Williams of Grantham; his brother, Carl J. Womble of Goldsboro; his sister, Nettie W. Tighe of California; eleven grandchildren, one step-grandchild, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by a special niece, Linda Petras and a special friend, Lynette Lee.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Sammy Eugene Womble; his grandsons, Ashley Brian Womble and Melvin Scott Womble, his sisters, Vernelle W. Butler and Alice W. Davis; and his brothers, James Clifton Womble and Billy Womble.
The family will receive friends Friday at Seymour Funeral Home from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. and other times at the home of his granddaughter, Shannon Weaver, 441 Weaver Road, Goldsboro.
