September 02, 1930 - March 11, 2010

Goldsboro – Eleanor Ennett Brown Bass, 79, passed away on Thursday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Eleanor was born in Wilmington, North Carolina on September 2, 1930 to the late William Ennett Brown and Eleanor Kornegay Brown. She was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir and where she served in kitchen ministry. Eleanor was an avid bridge player and was a member of the Goldsboro Bridge Club where she received the Silver Life Master Honor. Along with a tireless commitment to help the underprivileged in our community, she would freely visit and bake goodies for the shut-ins.

A service to celebrate Eleanor’s life will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Drew Clark and Rev. Ryan Rasmussen officiating. A private interment will be held in Willow Dale Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in McChesney Hall.

Eleanor is survived by her husband of 60 years, Edward Earl Bass, Sr.; her sons, Eddie Bass, Jr. and wife, Chris of Kenansville and Robert Ennett Bass of Goldsboro; her grandchildren, Ashley K. Bass of Kenansville and Matthew E. Bass of Rocky Mount; her sisters, Jane Clyde Broder of Wilmington and Peggy Sims and husband, Ben of Ocala, FL; and a special sister-in-law, Barbara Ann Bass Hughey of Goldsboro.
