Margaret Fleetwood Aycock


Kenly – Mrs. Margaret Fleetwood Aycock, 88, of the Nahunta and Pinkney Community at Sasser’s Pond died Friday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A native of Eureka, she was adopted to the late Elmer E. and Elizabeth Fleetwood of Eureka; Her biological parents were the late Bennnie R. Wiggins and Betty Gurganus Wiggins and was married to the late Abner Worth Aycock, Sr. Mrs. Aycock was a member of Nahunta Friends Meeting; very active in the church, Friendship Circle, Nahunta Home Extension Club and served on various committees. She was a member of the Farm Bureau, serving as Secretary for several years. She was very active in the Nahunta School and community affairs until her failing health in the late sixties.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday at Nahunta Friends Meeting. Steve Lawrence and Dr. Billy Yawn will officiate. Entombment will follow in the Calvin Aycock Cemetery near Fremont on Hwy. 222.

She is survived by a daughter, Melba Kirby and husband, James of Kenly; a son, A.W. Aycock, Jr. of Fremont; a foster son, Billy Henderson of Surf City; grandsons, Stanley Worth Kirby of Pikeville, Dale Aycock Kirby of Kenly, Graylon Worth Aycock of Kenansville, and Richard Kevin Aycock of Kenly,; two great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Rose Chamlee of Pikeville, Evelyn Lamm and husband, Kermit of Wilson, Swanell McLawhorn of Kinston, Fanettie Whichard and husband, Goodman of Pikeville, Reba Mitchell and husband, Jimmy of Goldsboro and Marylin Wiggins of Atlanta, GA; eight nieces and four nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Worth and Margaret Aycock Endowment Fund, Mount Olive College Gift Records, Mount Olive, NC 28365.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7-9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home of Melba and James Kirby, 3985 NC 581 North, Kenly.
