Durwood B. Bailey, Sr.

Pikeville – Mr. Durwood Belmon Bailey, Sr., 71, of 1079 Buck Swamp Road, died Tuesday from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

A native of Wayne County, he was the son of the late Nathan and Octavia Waddell Bailey. Mr. Bailey was retired from the N. C. Department of Transportation and was also retired from ICI. He had a love for driving cars.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 AM at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Timothy Creel and Rev. Jerry Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Faye Barnes Bailey; two sons, Belmon Bailey, Jr. and wife Vickie of Princeton and Joseph Bailey, Sr. and wife Kay of Goldsboro; grandsons, Chris Bailey and wife Heather of Princeton, Joe Bailey, Jr. and wife Wendy of Goldsboro and Jeffrey Bailey of Goldsboro; a granddaughter, Crystal Langdon and husband Rodney of Princeton; a great granddaughter, Grace Bailey of Goldsboro; a sister, Elva Woy and husband Charlie of Tennessee; sister-in-laws, Pina Bailey and Betty Bailey, both of Illinois, Afton Bailey of Missouri, Mildred Bailey and Louvenia Bailey Gurley and husband, L.J., all of Goldsboro.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pinkney Baptist Church, 3157 NC 581 Hwy. North, Fremont, NC 27830 or the American Diabetes Assn., 2315A Sunset Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 PM Thursday at Seymour Funeral Home and at other times at the residence.
