Gerald Carlisle Baine, Sr.

Goldsboro – MSgt Gerald Carlisle Baine, Sr., U.S.A.F.,
Retired, 66, died Thursday, September 30, 2004 at Wayne Memorial
Hospital following a period of declining health.
He was born in Marion, SC, March 1, 1938. MSgt (Ret.) Baine served
in the United States Air Force from October 1956 to September 1982.
During his Air Force career he was stationed at bases in Texas,
Kansas, North Carolina, Thailand and Korea. He was also a veteran of
the Vietnam War. He was in the Strategic Air Command for nineteen
years as a jet aircraft mechanic and ground crew chief. He served in
Tactical Air Command for seven years retiring as Non-Commissioned
Officer In Charge of Maintenance Plans and Scheduling.
Graveside services will be held at a later date in South Carolina
with full military honors. Rev. Ray Smeltzer will officiate.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Gibson Baine of Goldsboro and
their children and families: Gerald, Jr., Patricia and Caleb Baine
of Princeton, Linda D. Baine of Goldsboro, Mark R. and Joy Baine of
Spartanburg, SC, L. Russell Baine of Goldsboro and Christopher L.,
Kimberly, Dylan and Josie Baine of Independence, KY. He is also
survived by brothers, Robert R. Baine, Jr. of Columbia, SC and
Richard W. Baine of Raleigh; his sisters, Mrs. George Baker (Sarah)
and Mrs. Edwin Brown (Jennel) of Marion, SC and Mrs. Curtis Doggette
(Peggy) of Pawleys Island, SC.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Robert R. and
Ethel Campbell Baine of Marion, SC, his brother, B.W. Baine and his
sister, Dorothy B. Atkinson.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Adamsville Baptist
Church Building Fund, 1302 N. Berkeley Blvd., Goldsboro, NC 27530.
The family will receive friends Sunday at Seymour Funeral Home from
6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and other times at the residence, 105 Lariat Road,
Goldsboro.
