Joseph Robert Bandy

Goldsboro – Joseph Robert Bandy, 85, died Thursday afternoon at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Joseph was born in Sour Lake, Texas on November 5, 1922 to the late Samuel E. Bandy and Hanner Bass Bandy. He was a retired supervisor with Acme United Corporation. Joseph was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. at First Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Frank Flowers officiating. Burial will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park with military honors and Rev. John Hill will officiate.

Joseph is survived by his wife, Hazel McLawhorn Bandy; his son Robert R. Bandy of Goldsboro; his brother, Barney Bandy of Sour Lake, TX; two sisters, Bertchel B. Stephenson and Jewel Bandy, all of Sour Lake, TX; four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia Bandy Yelverton; his great-granddaughter, Asheton Marie Bandy; his sister, Mattie B. McCollough; and his brother, Dempsey Bandy.

The family will receive friends Saturday following the service in the church parlor and other times at his home, 1010 Edgerton Street, Goldsboro, NC.
