Jean Gurley Barnette

Jean Gurley Barnette, 71, died Sunday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A native of Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late Floyd Gurley and Lillie Roberts Gurley and was retired from Cherry Hospital. Mrs. Barnette worked with Sunrise Learning Center Day School and was a member of the Church Alive Ministries.

Funeral services were held Friday at 11 a.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Chuck Gentry and Rev. Timothy Creel officiating. Burial followed in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Barnette is survived by her daughters, Pam Turpin and husband, Ronnie, Kay Bailey and husband, Joseph, Barbara Reinoehl and husband, David; grandchildren, Rhonda Marshall and husband, Tommy, Joe Bailey Jr. and wife, Wendy, Jeff Bailey, Jay Turpin, Shelly Sullivan and Christopher Bohler and wife, Erin; great-grandchildren, Megan Turpin, Hunter Marshall, Hannah Turpin, Grace Bailey, Cynthia Bohler, Laura Bohler, Sean Bohler and Dylan Bohler; and a sister, Ruth Hawkins and husband, Carson.

She was preceded in death by her son, Jesse Preston "Butch" Barnette, Jr. and her brother, E.C. Gurley.
