Kenneth David Bedford Sr.

Goldsboro –
Mr. Kenneth David "K.D." Bedford, Sr., 70, of 107 Forest Drive, died
Saturday at Duke University Medical Center in Durham.
A native of Wayne County, he was the son of the late Wayland Dortch
Bedford and Ella Howell Bedford and was a 1950 graduate of Goldsboro
High School. He was an Area Engineer and retired from E.I. Dupont De
Nemours with 39 years of service. He was an ASME Certified Boiler
and Pressure Vessel Inspector and served many years on the Dupont
Corporate Engineering Standards Welding Sub-committee. Mr. Bedford
was a member of the Wayne Masonic Lodge #112 A.F. and A.M.,
Goldsboro York Rite and New Bern Scottish Rite Bodies, Sudan Temple
and Wayne Shrine Club. He was a member and past chairman of the
Eastern Carolina Chapter of the American Welding Society and the
Carolina’s Society of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors. Mr.
Bedford was a life member of the Loyal Order of Moose #661.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Seymour
Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Daniel Freuler officiating. Burial
with masonic rites will follow in the Hephzibah Baptist Church
Cemetery, Hwy. 70 West, Princeton.
He is survived by his sons, Kenneth David Bedford, Jr. and wife,
Susan B. Bedford of Cary and Johnny L. Bedford of Goldsboro; a
grandson, Lee Michael Bedford of Cary; a special friend, Jewell O.
Stanley of Goldsboro, sisters, Aliean B. Daughtry and Virginia B.
Holzkamm, both of Goldsboro; a sister-in-law, Aleane D. Bedford of
Goldsboro; brothers, Johnny D. Bedford of Spartanburg, SC, Willie M.
Bedford and wife, Jean Bedford of Goldsboro and Nathan W. Bedford
and wife, Judy Bedford of Lithonia, GA.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Leroy Bedford;
brothers-in-law, Emmett Daughtry and Donald Holzkamm and a
sister-in-law, Lena B. Bedford.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sudan Temple
Crippled Childrens Fund, P.O. Box 490, New Bern, NC 28563.
The family will greet friends Tuesday from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. at
Seymour Funeral Home. |
