Mary Lillie Sutton Beeman

Goldsboro – Mrs. Mary Lillie Sutton Beeman, 88, died Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A native of Lenoir County, she was the daughter of the late Roland H. Sutton and Lillie Belle Edwards Sutton and was married to the late William Frasher Beeman. Mrs. Beeman retired as a branch manager for Wachovia Bank and worked with the bank for 23 years. She was a graduate of LaGrange High School and attended the Hart’s Business School in Kinston. Mrs. Beeman also attended Wayne Community College for a course in Banking. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, where she served on the alter guild and was the former treasurer of the United Methodist Women. Mrs. Beeman was past-president of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Billy Seate, Rev. Bob Bame and Rev. Shirley Ward officiating. Entombment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

She is survived by her sisters, Lucille Godinez and husband, Nick of Summerville, SC, Kathleen Sutton Whitley of LaGrange, Dorothy Sutton Ray and husband, John of Asheville and Elizabeth Sutton Hardy and husband, Carl of LaGrange; her brothers, Lee Carr Sutton of LaGrange and Thomas W. Sutton and wife, Myrtle of LaGrange; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Edward Sutton, Roland H. Sutton, and Herbert Sutton; and her sister, Marie Sutton Croom.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 204 E. Chestnut Street, Goldsboro, NC 27534 or the charity of one’s choice.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
