Macie West Best

Wallace – Macie West Best, 86, died Thursday morning, August 23rd at Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton.

A native of Sampson County, she was the daughter of the late David John and Eula Bland West and was the widow of Russell Andrew Best. She was a former member of Falling Creek Baptist Church and was a member of Wallace First Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Dennis Bazemore officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park. 

She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Best Evans and husband, Harold of Wallace; son, R. A. Best, Jr. and wife, Janice of Goldsboro; brother, Stacy West and wife, Lib of Clinton; sisters, Kathleen West Weeks of Clinton and Gracie West Askew of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Russ Evans and wife, Ann, Mark Evans and wife, Bridgett, Becky Evans Judge and husband, Michael, David Evans and wife, Lisa, Andy Best and wife, Carla, Annjanette Best and fiancée, Bryan Wells, Chanda Best Major and husband, Curtis; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Abby, Austin and Eden Evans, Rebecca Judge and Tara Best; nieces, Dawn W. Cannady, Denise W. Scronce and Cindi W. Norris; and nephews, Mack Askew, Durwood Askew and Brent Weeks. 

She was preceded in death by brothers, Manley West and LeRoy West; a sister, Melva Rhee West and a nephew, Larry Weeks. 

Pallbearers will be Russ Evans, Mark Evans, David Evans, Andy Best, Mack Askew, Durwood Askew and Brent Weeks. 

Although flowers are welcome, memorials may be made to Wallace First Baptist Church, 408 W. Main Street, Wallace, NC 28466. 

The family will receive friends Friday at Seymour Funeral Home from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. and other times at her residence, 334 W. Main Street, Wallace.
