James Ray Bissette

Goldsboro – MSGT (Retired) U.S.A.F. James Ray “Buck” Bissette, 62, of 119 Rose Landing Drive, died Sunday in Durham after a courageous battle with Mulitple Myeloma.

A native of Nash County, he was the son of the late Phillip Bissette and Mavis Earp Bissette. While serving in the United States Air Force, Buck worked with the Aerospace Defense Command at Keflavik Airport in Iceland, the Presidential Squadron at Andrews Air Force Base, and the Fourth Tac Fighter Wing FTD 205. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked with Southeast Frozen Foods as an Account Manager. Mr. Bissette was an avid golfer and was a member of the Three Eagles Golf Course at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.

Graveside services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery with full military honors.

Mr. Bissette is survived by his daughter, Lisa B. Wheeler and husband, Chris of Pikeville; two granddaughters, Logan Wheeler and Mackenzie Wheeler; his fiancée, Debria J. Perry; his brother, Henry Bissette of Norfolk, VA; and his sisters, Jean Costin and husband, Alton of Bailey, Gloris Ann Merritt of Florida and Janie Mae Neer and husband, Richard of Chesapeake, VA.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7-9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his home and the home of his daughter, 610 Western Wayne Drive, Pikeville.
