Hilma Elizabeth Stewart Bray


Goldsboro – Mrs. Hilma Elizabeth "Betsy" Stewart Bray, 70, died Thursday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

A native of Harnett County, she was the daughter of the late Johnie D. Stewart and Hilma Turlington Stewart Croom and was married to the late Tommy W. Bray. Mrs. Bray was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and also the Women of the Church and the XYZ Club. She volunteered at Wayne Memorial Hospital for a number of years.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Black Memorial Chapel of First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Bill Hufham officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

She is survived by a son, Tommy "Stewart" Bray and wife, Joan of Greenville; a sister, Peggy Stewart Davis of Goldsboro; a brother, Jerry D. Stewart and wife, Catherine of Wilmington; brother-in-law, Fred Bray Jr. of Greensboro; nieces and nephews, Phyllis and Joe Sikes, Karen Stewart, Carroll and Hunter Davis, John and Amy Stewart, and Frankie and Vickie Bray.

She was preceded in death by a nephew, John Richard "Dickie" Davis.

The family will receive friends Friday at Seymour Funeral Home from 7-9 p.m. and other times at her home, 514 N. Claiborne Street, Goldsboro.
