Emmett Raymond Capps

Goldsboro – Mr. Emmett Raymond Capps, 70, of 3191 U.S. Hwy. 13 North, died Friday at Pitt Memorial Hospital.

A native of Wayne County, he was the son of the late Bennie and Roberta Ballree Capps. Mr. Capps had worked as a truck driver with Elliott Packing Company and was the former owner and operator of Capps Store in the Hood Swamp Community. Along with his love for horses, he was an avid fisherman and hunter. Mr. Capps enjoyed the softball games at Saulston and was known for going early to get a good seat at each game.

Funeral services will be Sunday at 6:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Grady and Rev. Ralph Parker officiating. Interment will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.

Mr. Capps is survived by his wife of 47 years, Lola Mae Capps; his daughters, Carol Brogden Futrell and husband, Jerry of Dudley, and Trisha Capps Stroud and husband, Stewart of Kenansville; his sons, Ricky Capps and wife, Freida of Saulston, and Tony Capps and wife, Delana of LaGrange; his grandchildren, Rebeckah Turner and husband, David, Jessica Whaley and special friend, Tobby Best, T.J. Capps, Wesley Capps, Natalie Capps, Chad Brogden, Lorenda Brogden, Anthony Brogden, Ashley Johnson, and Austin Johnson; his great-grandchildren, Jasmin Turner, Tobby Jakob-Ray Best; his sisters, Betty Capps Siltzer and husband, Mack of Cheyenne, WY, Barbara Capps Gonzales and husband, Ralph of Surf City, Marie Capps Tyre and husband, Darrell of Williamston and Eileen Capps Schwab and husband, Don of Chicago, IL; and his brothers, Bennie Lee Capps and wife, Annie of Goldsboro, and Roy Capps and wife, Liz of Shallotte.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Jewel Capps Potts and Julia Capps Langston, his brother, Frank Capps, and his son-in-law, James R. Brogden, Jr.

The family will receive friends Sunday following the service and other times at the home of Tony and Delana Capps, 207 Waldenwoods Drive, LaGrange.
