Gary Earl Carter

Goldsboro – Mr. Gary Earl Carter, 51, died Monday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A native of Wayne County, he was the son of the late Linwood Earl Carter and Henrietta Howell Carter. Mr. Carter worked as a carpenter.

Graveside services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Vinson Cemetery with Rev. Mike Grady officiating.

Mr. Carter is survived by a son, Ashley Carter and his wife, Karla of Goldsboro; a step-son, James Sawyer and his wife, Debra; his step-daughters, Tammy Sawyer and Kelly Sawyer; two grandchildren, Ashton Carter and Elizabeth Carter; his step-grandchildren, April Stroud and Kenny Plummer; his sisters, Mary Lee Peele and husband, Frank, Carolyn “Tootsie” Dail and husband, William and Jennie Jones; and his brothers, Ike Carter, Ronnie Carter and wife, Kathy and Johnny Carter and wife, Kim.

He was preceded in death by sisters, Janet Smith and Sue Newman and a brother, James Donald “Bud” Carter.

The family will receive friends Wednesday at Seymour Funeral Home from 7-9 p.m. and other times at the home of Ronnie and Kathy Carter, 382 Peele Road, Goldsboro.
