Madeline Smith Carter

Goldsboro – Madeline Smith Carter, 70, 376 Peele Road, died Friday, June 7, 2002, in Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A native of Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late Luby and Lillie Butts Smith. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.

Funeral services were held 7 PM Saturday, June 8, 2002, at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sherman Guthrie officiating. Interment will be 2PM Sunday, June 9, 2002, at Wayne Memorial Park.

She is survived by her husband, Emmett Carter; a son, Emmett Dwight Carter of Wendell; a sister, Sallie Lane of Garner; three granddaughters, Tammy Strickland of Goldsboro, Teresa Grady of Albemarle and Kelly Carter of Raleigh; two great granddaughters, Kaitlyn Skinner of Raleigh and Mikayla Strickland of Goldsboro.

She was preceded in death by brothers, Luby Smith, Jr. and Willard "Teet" Smith.

The family received friends following the service until 9 PM and at other times at the residence.
