Christine Daniels Clark
 Goldsboro – Christine Daniels Clark, 70, died Wednesday, December 18, 2002, at her home at 3748 East Ash Street. Christine was born February 23, 1932 and raised in Wayne County where she resided her entire life. She was the only daughter of John Willoughby and Chellie Summerlin Daniels. She graduated from Goldsboro High School in 1950 and from Crumpler Secretarial School in 1951.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior in 1951 at a Hyman Appleman Crusade in Goldsboro. Shortly thereafter, she became employed as a secretary to the pastor of Faith Free Will Baptist Church for several years. She was a charter member and regularly attended Faith Free will Baptist Church until her illness.
She was preceded in death by her parents and former husband, Donald E. Clark. She is survived by her only son and daughter-in-law, Don and Jessica Clark and two granddaughters, Meredith and Madeline Clark of Goldsboro; a half-sister, Marguerite Daniels Holland of Tarboro; and four special cousins, Sadie Adams, Eunice Howell, Gertrude Encerti and Alice Capps. Special recognition is also due to three very special cousins affectionately known as “Christine’s other boys.” Since the death of their mother to cancer in 1985, coming home to these men meant being with Christine at her house. Each of them have provided the utmost support and love to Christine during her illness. They are: Ronnie G. Jones of Raleigh, Rev. Jeff B. Jones of Fuquay-Varina and B. Todd Jones of Goldsboro.
She is also survived by her fiancée, Stanley Southerland. Stanley and Christine began dating in 1948 and became engaged in 1952. Although never married, they reunited in 2000 and became engaged again. Stanley remained a faithful caregiver during her illness.
The family will receive friends Friday night from six to eight at Seymour Funeral Home in Goldsboro. Funeral services will be Saturday at 2:00 PM at Faith Free Will Baptist Church in Goldsboro with Pastor Dann Patrick and Rev. Jeff Jones officiating. Interment will follow at the Summerlin Family Cemetery behind the home of Christine Daniels Clark.
Christine’s life was always a celebration with her sweet smile and her caring spirit for others. That spirit has been generously returned during the past year with all the prayers, many cards, calls, flowers and meals that were provided on her behalf. The family wishes to thank each of you for your concern and countless acts of kindness.
