Louise W. Coker

Surf City – Mrs. Louise W. Coker, 86, formerly of Goldsboro, died Wednesday at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center in Wilmington. Mrs. Coker was residing in Surf City with her daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Richard W. Best.

A native of Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late Jim Berry Worrell and Lilla Butts Worrell and was the widow of Carl E. Coker. Mrs. Coker was a member of Woods Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church in Goldsboro.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Harold Heath, Rev. Steven Dupree and Rev. Mike Grady officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

In addition to her daughter and son-in-law, Mrs. Coker is survived by her sisters, Laulas Sasser of Pikeville, Maude Gurley of Goldsboro and Jessie Stone of Goldsboro; her half sister, Annette Smith of Goldsboro; seven grandchildren, Rick Best and wife Ani, Robin Lanier and husband Wayne, Renee Geary and husband Doug, Roman Best and wife Brette, Howard Ray Sauls, Jr. and wife Julie, Cristy Grady and husband Tony and Carla Wetherington and husband Danny; nine great-grandchildren, Jennifer Best, Sidney Best, Cooper Best, Jordan Lanier, Noble Geary, Alec Sauls, Mackenzie Sauls, Nicholas Sauls, Lynn Marie Grady, Devin Grady, Tyler Grady, Wade Wetherington and Jake Wetherington; and a special friend, Margaret May.

She was preceded in death by her daughters, Linda Coker Sauls and Belvia Faye Coker; her sisters, Ethel Smith, Clyde Creech, Zola Smith, Eleanor Gay and Isabelle Sutton; and her brothers, James Worrell, Carl Worrell and George Worrell.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7-9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home of Pat S. Harper, 1408 Hood Swamp Road, Goldsboro.
