Garland Dean Cooke, Jr.

Goldsboro – Mr. Garland Dean Cooke, Jr., 42, of 259 Riverbend Road died Thursday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A native of Wayne County, he was the son of Garland D. Cooke, Sr. and Joyce Mitchell Cooke and was a computer systems manager with Shepherd Electric. Dean was an avid golfer and was a former member of Southern Wayne Country Club.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Rosewood First Baptist Church, of which he was a member, with Rev. E.C. Mattocks and Rev. Vernon Braswell officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

In addition to his parents, Dean is survived by his brother, Cale Cooke and wife Michelle of Rocky Mount and their children, Kasey, Cody and Erin; a step-daughter, Ashley Fowler; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7-9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home of his parents, 249 Riverbend Road, Goldsboro.
