Myrtie Ann Ginn Cooke

Mrs.
Myrtie Ann Ginn Cooke, 72, of Sunbridge Nursing Home of Mt. Olive,
formerly of 423 Frank Street, Goldsboro, died Thursday at Wayne
Memorial Hospital after a long illness with diabetes.
A native of Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late Willie
and Annie Newsome Ginn. Mrs. Cooke was a homemaker and was a member
of Free Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church. In her earlier
years she helped her husband in farming and worked in the public
school system until her health required her to retire. Mrs. Cooke
enjoyed cooking country food and having her family and friends over.
Her specialty was chocolate pies. She also had a special enjoyment
of yard sales and her doll and tea pot collection.
Funeral services will be Friday at 7:00 PM at Free Chapel
Pentecostal Free Will Baptist with Rev. Mike Williams, Rev. Willard
Hardison, and Rev. Tim Hopkins officiating. Interment will be 11 A.
M. Saturday in Pikeville Cemetery.
Mrs. Cooke is survived by her husband of 56 years, Otha Donald
Cooke; her daughters, Margie Games and husband, Shelton, and
Jeanette Howell and husband, Jimmy all of Goldsboro and Lynn
Lancaster and husband Robin of Pikeville: a sister, Louise Parks of
Goldsboro; grandchildren, Renee Daw Smith of Savannah, Georgia,
Bobby Daw of Goldsboro, Derick Games of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida,
Michelle Edelen of Pikeville, and Chrisanna Mooring of Goldsboro;
six great grandchildren, Marlie, Macy, Shelby, Matthew, Austin, and
Megan.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Laura Ellen Head and Eva
Smith and brothers, William Ginn and Lee Ginn.
Although flowers are welcome, memorials may be made to Free Chapel
PFWB Church, 187 Vance Drive, Goldsboro, NC 27534.
The family will receive friends following the funeral service and at
other times at the home of Jeanette and Jimmy Howell, 123 Zeke’s
Lane off of Stoney Creek Church Rd., Goldsboro, NC 27534.
