William Carl Cook

Goldsboro – Mr. William Carl Cook, 85, died on Thursday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Pikeville on July 16, 1918, the son of the late William Luther and Roxie Brown Cooke. Mr. Cook attended Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma. He served as a pilot in the Army Air Corps during World War II and continued serving in the Air Force Reserve retiring as a major. He retired from Swift Chemical Company in January 1978. He was a member of the Wayne Masonic Lodge #112, the Sudan Temple, a Life Member and Past Exhaulted Ruler of the Goldsboro Elks Lodge #139 B.P.O.E. He was a member of First Christian Church.

Mr. Cook is survived by his wife, Virginia Glascock Cook; two brothers, Billy T. Cooke of Goldsboro and Patrick Cooke of Chapel Hill; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park with Rev. Dr. Fred Clarke presiding.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7-9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
