Chester Joseph Cox
 Goldsboro – Mr. Chester Joseph Cox, 88, of 1911 Salem Church Road, died Wednesday at his home.
A native of Wayne County, he was the son of the late Joseph Franklin Cox and Pearcy Andrews Cox. Mr. Cox retired from the Life of Georgia Insurance Company with 39 years of service and had received general outstanding honors. He had most recently volunteered at Wayne Memorial Hospital. Mr. Cox was an active member of Goldsboro Friends Meeting, where he had served as a trustee, usher chairman, youth leader and taught the Young Men’s Sunday School Class. He also served on the following committees at Goldsboro Friends Meeting: Ministry and Council, Stewardship and Finance, and House and Grounds.
Funeral services will be Friday at 7 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with Jan Greene and Jean Alley officiating. Interment will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Willow Dale Cemetery.
Mr. Cox is survived by his wife of 54 years, Anne Aycock Cox; a son, Chester Joseph Cox Jr. and his wife, Debra Grice Cox of Kinston; a daughter, Mary Anne Cox Dameron and her husband, David W. Dameron of Morganton; his grandchildren, Carl Joseph Cox, Jonathan Craig Dameron and Matthew Ryan Dameron; a sister, Nita C. Cox of Smithfield and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Audrey Cox Parker and Olivia Cox Duff; and his brother, Richard Ichabod Cox.

The family will receive friends following the service Friday at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his home.
