Rev. Elbert Glenn Daughtry

Grantham - Rev. Elbert Glenn Daughtry, 66, of 2353 O’Berry Road, died Monday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A native of Wayne County, he was the son of the late James Henry Daughtry and Appie Gertrude Grant Daughtry. Rev. Daughtry was the owner and operator of Daughtry’s Maintenance Company until his retirement. Rev. Daughtry was serving as the Senior Pastor of Faith Believers Church in Goldsboro and was the radio pastor of “Moment of Decision” on W.D.J.S. in Mount Olive for 41 years. He was a member of the Wayne County React Team-Unit 15 and was the General Overseer of the Community Bible Church of God, Inc. in Goldsboro. 

A celebration of his life will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Rev. Daughtry is survived by his wife, Shelby Sutton Daughtry; a son, Rev. Raymond Glenn Daughtry and wife, Betty of Fremont; two daughters, Jeanie Gardner and husband, Joseph and Jackie Jones and husband, Jimmy of Goldsboro; his grandchildren, Jennie Gardner, Cindy Gardner, Shelby Jones, Emily Jones, Ashley Daughtry and Justin Daw; his sisters, Olive Mae Brock of Kenansville and Ruth Hinson and husband, Walter of Goldsboro; and her brother, Jessie James Daughtry and wife, Thelma of Clinton.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jacqueline Elizabeth Daughtry.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his residence.
