Durwood Davis


Goldsboro – Mr. Durwood Davis, 70, of 553 Church of God Road, died Wednesday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

A native of Wayne County, he was the son of the late Leslie Benton Davis and Lillian Edmundson Davis and was a graduate of Atlantic Christian College. Mr. Davis was the former executive director of the Agricultural Stablization Conservation Service now known as the Farm Service Agency. He retired after 32 years of service. An avid golfer, Mr. Davis was a member of the Elks Lodge BPOE #139. He also served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

Graveside services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Pikeville Cemetery with military honors. Dr. Gerry Davis, Rev. David Beck and Rev. Gerald Massey will officiate.

He is survived by his wife, Olga Rose Wooten Davis; a daughter, Lynda D. Stewart and husband, Keith of Fremont; a son, James B. Davis of Myrtle Beach, SC; and three grandchildren, Les Stewart, Jay Stewart and Paige Stewart.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
