Earl Davis

Goldsboro – Mr. Earl Davis, 84, of 105 D & W Circle died Monday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A native of Wayne County, he was the son of the late John McLean Davis and Ella Hill Davis and was married to the late Sarah Emma Smith Davis. Mr. Davis was a retired builder and merchant and was the owner and operator of D&W Trailer Court.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Coker Memorial P.F.W.B. Church with Rev. Byron Murray, Rev. Danny Freuler and Rev. Reynolds Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Davis is survived by his sons, William Earl Davis and wife, Patty of LaGrange and Morris Ray Davis, Sr. and wife, Linda of Goldsboro; his daughters, Audrey D. King and husband, Billy of Goldsboro and Jane D. Hooks of Goldsboro; his brothers, Carl Davis and Senas Davis, both of Goldsboro; his sister, Dorothy D. Herring of Goldsboro; his grandchildren, Coker Davis, Marsha D. Cruse, Danny Davis, Roger King, Billie K. Medlin, Karl King, Tammy Lewis, Morris Davis, Jr., Marsha D. Dills, Melinda Wade, Gay Long, Clytee Hawley, Amanda Harrison, April Fields, Chris Sasser, Kim Sasser, Pam S. Daughtry, Ricky Hooks, Stephanie Davis and Billy Davis; twenty-nine great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, George Dwight Davis; a grandchild, Robbie Dell Hooks; his sisters, Ella D. Houston, Inez Davis, Eula Peele, and Vida Sorrell; and his brothers, John M. Davis, Paul Davis and Hadie Davis.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home of Audrey and Billy King, 103 Greene Drive, Goldsboro.
