Mavis Clayton Davis
Goldsboro – Mrs. Mavis Clayton Davis, 81, went to be with her Lord on June 22, 2003.
She was born on November 29, 1921 to parents, George Washington Clayton and Margaret Louise Howell Clayton. She was a wonderful and loving mother, a good grandmother and a sweet sister, who will be missed. She was always doing something for someone else not herself. She loved her family but her first love was her Lord. She was employed at Cherry Hospital until her retirement. She was a life time member of Second Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years and sang in the choir. She also was a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Crane officiating. Interment will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Princeton Cemetery.
Mrs. Davis is survived by her daughter, Wanna Valenzuela-Harrison and husband, Titus Harrison of LaGrange; a son, Bobby Earl Clayton and wife, Kathy Clayton of Rosewood; her grandchildren, David Valenzuela, Michael Valenzuela, Michelle Valenzuela, Bobby Clayton, Jr, Debbie Daniels and husband Bryan Daniels, Eric Lee and wife Cindy Lee and Shayne Lee; and seven precious great-grandchildren, Adam Harrison, Emma Harrison, Maria Valenzuela, Hannah Daniels, Cameron Daniels, Dustin Lee and Ashlie Lee. She is also survived by her sister, Helen Bass of Fremont and a lot of special nieces and a nephew.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
The family will receive friends following the service at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home of her son, 107 Friendswood Drive, Goldsboro.
