June Moore Daw

Pikeville – Mrs. June Moore Daw of 475 Bartlette Road, died Tuesday, July 23, 2002, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center after a long illness.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Boyd and Rev. T.R. Miller officiating. Interment will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Pineview Cemetery in Seven Springs.

Mrs. Daw was a native of Wayne County. She was the daughter of the late Bernice H. Moore Blackmon and the late John H. Moore.

She was the owner and operator of Apple Dumpling Day Care in Pikeville for 22 ½ years until her illness 2 ½ years ago.

Mrs. Daw loved children and after retiring from the day care became an advocate for abused or troubled children through the Guardian Ad Liden program with the Wayne Country Courts system.

Mrs. Daw is survived by her husband of 39 years, David E. Daw, two sons and their wives, David Daw Jr. and wife, Jeannine of Goldsboro and Kevin Daw and wife, April of Goldsboro; a granddaughter, Kelsey Daw and a grandson, Gage Daw; sisters, Carol Strickland and husband, Robie of Anchorage, Alaska and Edith Mitchell and husband, Nelson of Goldsboro, 5 nephews, 3 great nieces and 2 great nephews.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be sent to the Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, NC 27534 and designate for the center’s needs.

The family will receive friends following the service and other times at the residence.
