Sophie Vail DeBrito


Pikeville – Mrs. Sophie Petroski Vail DeBrito, 83, of 961 Hinnant Road, died Thursday at her home.

A native of Somers, Connecticutt, she was the daughter of the late Anthony Petroski and Rosalie Mocarska Petroski. Mrs. DeBrito was a member of St. Joseph United Methodist Church. She was a retired manager with Wayne Cotton Gin and worked as secretary with Wayne Implement Company. She was a veteran of the United States Navy. 

Graveside services will be 11 A. M. Saturday at Pikeville Cemetery with Rev. Bob Bame and Rev. Paul Dunham officiating. 

Mrs. DeBrito is survived by her husband, Clint E. DeBrito; her son, Stephen Vail and wife, Yvonne of Pikeville; a son-in-law, Andy McClenny of New Bern; a grandson James McClenny and wife Jody of Newport; God-son, Larry Molodeski of Middletown Spring, Vermont; sisters, Stella Novak of National City, California and Jennie Voislow of Pompano Beach, Florida; step-sons, Dr. Phil DeBrito and wife Ruth of Knightdale and Charles DeBrito and wife Rosie of Raleigh.

Mrs. DeBrito was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Vail McClenny.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Deloch, Brian Pate, Hugh Pate, Sherrill Baker, Ben Jones, and J. O. Carter.
