John Lee Edwards

Goldsboro – Mr. John Lee Edwards, 86, of 112 Springwood Drive, died Monday at Edgewood Place in Burlington.

A native of Greene County, he was the son of the late John Lee Edwards, Sr. and Orpha Hill Edwards. A veteran World War II and the Korean Conflict, he retired after twenty one years with the United States Air Force. Mr. Edwards was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.

A memorial service will be held Friday at 11:00 AM at Wayne Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with military honors. Dr. Billy Seate and Rev. Bob Bame will officiate.

He is survived by his wife, Mattie Pickett Edwards; a daughter, Priscilla Hill and husband, Thompson Hill, Jr. of Dallas, Texas; a sister, Mary Louise Dickens of Stantonsburg and twelve nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 204 E. Chestnut Street, Goldsboro, NC 27530 or John Lee and Mattie Pickett Edwards Scholarship Fund at Louisburg College in Louisburg, NC or Elon University in Elon, NC.

The family will receive friends following the service.
