S. H. Edwards

Goldsboro – Mr. S.H. (Hodge) Edwards, 88, of 105 Forest Drive went
to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 1, 2004 at Wayne Memorial
Hospital.
Mr. Edwards was born in Nash County to S. Eddie and Cleora Creekmore
Edwards. He was a veteran of World War II and a retired District
Manager of Durham Life Insurance Company. He was a former deacon and
Sunday school teacher, and an active member of Madison Avenue
Baptist Church. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather,
an avid gardener and sports fan.
Graveside services will be held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Peachtree
Baptist Church Cemetery in Spring Hope with Dr. Phillip Hunter
officiating.
Mr. Edwards is survived by his wife, Alice Sykes Edwards; three sons
and daughters-in-law, Ronald H. Edwards and his wife, Linda, Virgil
R. Edwards and his wife, Elaine, and Ralph D. Edwards and his wife,
Betty, all of Goldsboro; one daughter, Alice Jane Davis and his
husband, Donald L. of Winterville; four grandsons, six
granddaughters, and one great grandson. He is also survived by two
sisters, Doretha E. Jesse of Goldsboro and Lynn E. Perry of
Hampstead.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Norwood R. Edwards, three
brothers and two sisters.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Madison Avenue Baptist
Church, 1703 E. Laurel Street, Goldsboro, NC 27530.
The family will receive friends Friday at Seymour Funeral Home from
7-9 p.m. and other times at his home.
