Laura Gertrude Phillips Encerti



Goldsboro – Mrs. Laura Gertrude Phillips Encerti died Saturday, June 7, 2003, at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.

Mrs. Encerti was born in Wayne County to Johnny Jackson Phillips and Gertrude Summerlin Phillips on June 16, 1919. She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, one brother and her husband, Dominic Encerti. Mrs. Encerti was a member of Madison Avenue Baptist Church and was past president of Goldsboro Chapter 1836 of NARFE. She was a retired Civil Service Employee and had traveled extensively with her husband. They lived in Bermuda, Spain, Africa, Washington, DC, California, Florida, North Carolina and South Carolina.

Funeral services will be Monday at 7 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff Jones officiating. Interment will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Summerlin Cemetery.

Mrs. Encerti is survived by her sister, Eunice Phillips Howell; four nieces, four nephews and many great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Gracellen Encerti and three grandchildren of Modesto, California. 

The family will receive friends Monday following the service at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at her home.
