James Emmette Fields

Goldsboro – Mr. James Emmette Fields, 48, of 104 N. Virginia Street died Wednesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

James was a native of Wayne County and was the son of the late Emmette Rose Fields and Margaret Marie Barwick Fields Rowe.

As a young boy growing up, James always had a fascination with military, especially with Civil War and World War II items. He would get out every Saturday and go yard selling or to gun shows. He knew his history on World War II. He had a love for learning about these two times in history. He collected German uniforms and hats. Anything you wanted to know just ask James – he could tell you.

James had a deep love for his family. He loved his moma dearly, and he loved his sister, too. He always tried to keep in touch with his family. He loved his nieces and nephews and especially his great nieces. James was a caring person. If he had something and you needed it, you could get it. He would give you the shirt off his back if you wanted it. He has never seen a stranger and was always willing to help others. He was what one could describe as “what you see is what you get”. He was honest about who he was and what he stood for. He was true to how he felt about you. James had a way of making you feel he didn’t care. But once you get to know him it was very obvious how he felt. This harsh sounding man was a gentle kind hearted person that hide his feelings to protect his heart from being hurt by others.

James is where he wants to be now. He’s with his moma and daddy and he has their undivided attention. He’s finally happy.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 pm from Seymour Funeral Chapel with Rev. Linda Burroughs. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
