Walter B. Fry, Jr.

Goldsboro – Walter B. Fry, Jr., 83, of 2338 Old Grantham Road, died Wednesday evening at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Walter was born in Greenville, Tennessee on December 21, 1924 to the late Walter B. Fry, Sr. and Anna Novella Epperson Fry. He retired from the United States Air Force and had also served in the United States Navy and the United States Army. Walter served his country during World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Mill Creek Masonic Lodge #125 A.F.& A.M.and the Scottish Rite Bodies 32nd Degree KCCH. Walter was a member of Providence United Methodist Church. He enjoyed being “Papa” to his grandchildren and loved wood working. In later years, Walter enjoyed traveling to Navy reunions.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Providence United Methodist Church with Rev. Vernon Brown and Rev. Dr. Jerry Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park with full military honors and with Masonic Rites.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Elizabeth Williams Fry; his daughter, Lisa F. Coone and husband, Randy of Goldsboro; his sons, David W. Fry and wife, Toni of Goldsboro and Darryl W. Fry and wife, Karla of Goldsboro; his grandchildren, Elizabeth Amy Coone, Sally Anna Coone, Eugene Walter Coone and Maddux Scott Fry; his uncles, Henry Porter Epperson of Salisbury and James B. Epperson of Florida; his aunt, Univee E. Wallace of Charlotte; his cousins, W.D. Fry, Clifford Fry, Lawrence Fry and Phyllis Verran, all of Tennessee; and several other cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Kay Fry.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the parlor at Providence United Methodist Church and other times at their home.
