Goldsboro – Miss Bertha Mae Gardner, 89, of 967 Church of God Road, died Tuesday at Britthaven Nursing Home.

A native of Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late George Gardner and Annie Williams Gardner. Miss Gardner was a home-maker and a member of Patetown Church of God.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Patetown Church of God with Rev. R.N. Williford and Rev. Alton Childers officiating. Burial will follow in the Howell Family Cemetery.

She is survived by her sister, Mable Gardner Howell of Patetown; special cousins, Maxine Sasser and Hazel Beaman of Goldsboro; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Wednesday at 7-9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the residence of Mable Gardner Howell, 967 Church of God Road, Goldsboro.
