Donald Ray Gardner

Goldsboro – Mr. Donald Ray Gardner, 74, of 3830 Wayne Memorial Drive, died Sunday at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.

A native of Wayne County, he was the son of the late Luther Gardner and Pearl McCandless Gardner and was retired from the United States Postal Service. Mr. Gardner was a member of Free Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Harmony Masonic Lodge #340 A.F. & A.M., where he had served as past master.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Free Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Freuler officiating. Interment will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Pikeville Cemetery with Masonic rites.

Mr. Gardner is survived by his wife, Shirley Davis Gardner; his daughter, Peggy Daniels and husband Joe of Goldsboro; his sons, Don Gardner and wife Sheila of Kenly, and David Gardner and wife Bobbie of Goldsboro; a step-son, Danny Kearney and wife Paula of Pikeville; his sisters, Nan Corrieri, Sue Williams and husband George, and Joyce Sasser and husband, Cordell, all of Goldsboro; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, W.J. “Bill” Corrieri, Sr.

The family will receive friends following the service at the church and other times at his residence.
