Doris Batten Gay

Goldsboro – Mrs. Doris Batten Gay, 75, died on Sunday, August 8,
2004 at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
A native of New Hanover County, she was the daughter of the late Era
J. Batten and Elsie Eason Batten Smith and was the widow of John
Harvey Gay. Mrs. Gay retired from Borden Manufacturing with 37 years
of service. She was a member of the First Pentecostal Holiness
Church.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral
Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Whitfield, Rev. Bill Rose and Rev. Bobby
Forehand officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
Mrs. Gay is survived by her daughters, Sharon Vincent and husband,
William “Vince” Vincent of Goldsboro and Barbara Dail and husband,
Froncy Dail II of Wilmington; her sister, Almeta B. Forehand of
Goldsboro; her brother, Norman Batten of Texas; her grandchildren,
Jan Littleton, Lynn Lee, Scott Vincent, Meagan Dail and Morgan Dail;
four great-grandchildren; her special K-9 friend, Dumplin; and many
special nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Otis Batten, Elwood
Batten, and Cecil Batten; and her sister, Gracie Batten Merritt.
Although flowers are welcome, memorials may be made to the First
Pentecostal Holiness Church, 1100 The First Church Road, Goldsboro,
NC 27534.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7-9 p.m. at Seymour
Funeral Home and other times at her home, 167 Belfast Ave.,
Goldsboro.
