Sandra Elizabeth Glasgow
Sandra Elizabeth Glasgow passed away on Thursday the twenty-ninth at her home in Goldsboro. She was surrounded by family, friends, and loved ones as she passed from this life to the next where she will find everlasting peace and respite from her pain as she finds comfort and relief in the arms of her Father in Heaven.
"Sandy" was born September 22, 1952 in Warrenton, NC. She received her undergraduate degree in Mathematics from UNC-Greensboro and her graduate degree in Library Science from UNC-Chapel Hill. Sandy devoted her life to her family, friends, and her spiritual home, The First Presbyterian Church in Goldsboro. She spent 22 years assisting in clinical trials for cancer patients as well as researching medical information for physicians at Wayne Memorial Hospital. Sandy's life was spent in service to others. The love and generosity she showed to everyone she encountered will be truly missed. As an active member and participant in the Relay for Life, the First Presbyterian Church Sunday School program, and other community and church programs, her selfless contributions over the years will continue to influence the community and will remain her legacy.
Ms. Glasgow is survived by her children, Barbara and Jamie Atkins, both of Greenville, NC; parents, Robert and Ethel Glasgow of Roanoke Rapids, NC; her 3 sisters, Robin Maxwell of Winston-Salem, NC, Pam Waters of Marietta, GA, and Charlotte Wallace of Sandston, VA; as well as her nieces, nephews, and countless friends and admirers.
Visitation will be held at Seymour Funeral Home from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Friday the thirtieth. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday the thirty-first, at First Presbyterian Church at 11a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be sent to the Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation, or by simply calling the American Cancer Society at 1-800-ACS-2345 or through their website, http://www.cancer.org
