Ransom Melvin Godwin

Goldsboro – Mr. Ransom Melvin “Dick” Godwin, 78, of 151-B Belfast Road, died Tuesday at his home.

A native of Wayne County, he was the son of the late Preston Godwin and Bertha Creech Godwin and was a retired farmer. Mr. Godwin served in the United States Army during World War II.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 7:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doug Bartlett and Rev. Jimmy Whitfield officiating. Burial will follow in the Godwin Family Cemetery. 

Mr. Godwin is survived by his wife, Helen Tyndall Godwin; his sons, David Godwin of Goldsboro, Dennis Godwin and his wife, Edith of Rockledge, FL and Bill Godwin of Goldsboro; a brother, William E. Godwin; six grandchildren, Justin Godwin, Josh Godwin and wife, Judy, Jonathan Godwin, Chris Godwin, Brian Godwin and Amy Godwin; two great-grandchildren, Jacob Godwin and Jessica Godwin; and a special family, Kemp and Rosemary Barden and their children, Melissa, Amanda, Sara and Matthew.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6-7 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and following the service. At other times, the family will be at the residence.
