Stephen Marvin Godwin

Goldsboro – Mr. Stephen Marvin “Steve” Godwin, 56, of 1364 Hwy. 111 North, died Sunday in the Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

A native of Wayne County, he was the son of William “Shorty” Godwin and Evelyn “Ebbie” West Godwin of Belfast and he was employed with Godwin Door and Hardware. Mr. Godwin was a retired volunteer fireman with the Belfast Fire Department.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doug Bartlett and Rev. T. C. West officiating. Burial will follow in the Godwin Family Cemetery.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Judy Rogers Godwin; a daughter, Darlene Godwin of Goldsboro; a son, David Godwin and wife Julie of Goldsboro; his brothers, Eddie Godwin and wife, Ann of Goldsboro and Randy Godwin and wife, Patricia of Goldsboro; his grandchildren, Candyce Godwin, Taryn Godwin and Marisa Godwin.

The family would like to thank his niece, Dawn Campbell of Kannopolis for her special care of Steve in his final days.

Pallbearers will be Tony Tillman, Will Godwin, Bill Parks, Johnny Jones, Jeff Morse and Mike Lynch. Honorary Pallbearers will be Fred Newcomb, Tom Rowe, Lester Forehand, Lemuel Bartlett, Chris Gurley, Julian Sauls and other members of the Belfast Volunteer Fire Department.

The family will receive friends at Seymour Funeral Home from 7-9 P. M. Monday and at other times will be at the residence.
