Bessie Mitchell Grantham

Goldsboro – Mrs. Bessie Mitchell Grantham, 91, of 179 Community Drive, died Saturday at Britthaven Nursing Home.

A native of Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late Burl Mitchell and Lela Rhodes Mitchell and was married to the late Herman Grantham. Mrs. Grantham was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be Sunday at 4:30 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rose Hicks officiating. Interment will be Monday at 11 a.m. in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Grantham is survived by her daughter, Pearl Whaley and husband, Jovance of Goldsboro; a son, J.B. Grantham and wife, Eloise of Goldsboro; a daughter-in-law, Mary Grantham of Goldsboro; nine grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; her special caregivers, Ann Crawford and the staff of Britthaven Nursing Home.

She was preceded in death by her son, Rudy Grantham; a daughter, Arabella G. Wells; and two brothers, Milford Mitchell and Chester Mitchell.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 3-4:30 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
