John David Grimes

Pikeville – Mr. John David “Toby” Grimes, 69, of 3251 Big Daddy’s
Road, died Sunday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
A native of Lenoir County, he was the son of the late Emmitte
Malcolm Grimes and Lossie Potter Grimes. Mr. Grimes was a retired
farmer and carpenter and was a retired fireman with the Faro
Volunteer Fire Department.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home
Chapel with Rev. James Gurkins officiating. Burial will follow in
the West Cemetery in Faro.
Mr. Grimes is survived by his wife, Willie Clyde Weaver Grimes; his
daughters, Diane G. Mozingo of Pikeville and Sherry G. Colie of
Goldsboro; a son, Toby Lee Grimes of Pikeville; a sister, Ava G.
Lane of Fremont; three brothers, Linwood Earl Grimes of Fremont,
Billy Ray Grimes of Fremont and Kenneth Grimes of Stantonsburg; five
grandchildren, Stacy Pate, Chris Ham, Jennifer Howell, Brandy
Mozingo and Kristy Grimes; and six great-grandchildren, Jessica
Pate, Rebecca Pate, Tyler Pate, Travis Ham, Amber Lancaster and Gray
Howell.
The Faro Volunteer Fire Department will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7-9 p.m. at Seymour
Funeral Home and other times at the residence. |
