Selma Davis Gufford

Goldsboro – Mrs. Selma Davis Gufford, 87, died Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A native of Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late Lemuel Erastus Davis and Mary Howell Davis and was the widow of Benjamin Franklin Gufford. Mrs. Gufford was retired from Cherry Hospital.

Funeral services will be Friday at 7 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Bailey officiating. Visitation will follow the service. Interment will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Pine Forest United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Gufford is survived by her daughters, Mary Alice “Bonnie” Rollins and husband Lloyd of Goldsboro, Carolyn Biggs and husband Robert of Goldsboro and Teresa Gates of Goldsboro; her son, Benjamin R. Gufford and wife Elizabeth Ann of Goldsboro; her sisters, Mae Williams and husband Leslie of Goldsboro, Dorothy Holt and husband John of Kinston and Esther Sasser and husband Audrey of Goldsboro; her sisters-in-law, Ruth Davis, Arlene Davis and Naomi Davis all of Goldsboro; her grandchildren, Martin Earl Sasser and wife Pat, Benjamin Neal Sasser and wife Loretta, Lisa Eve Biggs, Elizabeth Brigitta Strauch and Ben Gufford, Jr.; and a great-grandchild, Zachary David Sasser.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Voyad Davis, Pat Davis, Lloyd “Tunk” Davis and Travis Davis; her sisters, Ellen Sullivan and Eva Elmore; and her great-grandchild, Keri Sasser.

Although flowers are welcome, memorials may be made to the Goldsboro Downtown Lions Club, for the Lions Foundation for the Blind, P.O. Box 1413, Goldsboro, NC 27533-1413.

The family will receive friends at other times at the home of Carolyn and Robert Biggs, 105 Amelia Court, Goldsboro.
