Mary Starling Gurley
 Pikeville – Mrs. Mary Starling Gurley, 87, of 1320 Capps Bridge Road, died Monday morning at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
A native of Johnston County, she was the daughter of the late Willie Starling and Bea Ella Lawhorn Starling and was married to the late Cooper Alton Gurley. Mrs. Gurley was a member of the Whitley Church.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Whitley Church with Rev. Ferrell Hardison and Rev. Andy Stovall officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
Mrs. Gurley is survived by her daughters, Hilda Benson of Virginia Beach, VA, Jackie McKeel of Yorktown, VA, Grace Best and husband, Henry of Goldsboro, Gale Dail and husband, Bobby of Kinston and Vickie Honeycutt and husband, Robert of Wade; a son, Robert Gurley and wife, Barbara of Kinston; a daughter-in-law, Jean Gurley of Princeton; two sisters, Ranza Braswell of Smithfield and Eunice Barber of Micro; a sister-in-law, Hilda Starling of Smithfield; a brother-in-law, Leamon Gurley and wife, Iris of Princeton; seventeen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Alton Ralph Gurley.
The family will receive friends Tuesday at Seymour Funeral Home from 7-9 p.m. and other times at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Grace and Henry Best, 604 Holland Hill Drive, Goldsboro.
