Wilford Chester Hare

Pikeville – Mr. Wilford Chester Hare, 91, of 544 Big Daddy’s Road, died Friday at the Brian Center.

A native of Wayne County, he was the son of the late George Hare and Lillie Ginn Hare and was married to the late Margaret Moore Hare. Mr. Hare was a long time farmer in the Pikeville Community and was a member of St. Joseph United Methodist Church, where he had served on numerous committees.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Dunham and Rev. Mac McMillan. Burial will follow in the Pikeville Cemetery.

Mr. Hare is survived by his wife, Zelda Ray Killingsworth Hare; his daughter, Gloria Hare Bland and husband Peter of San Francisco, CA; his sons, W. Ray Hare and wife Gaye of Pikeville and Kenneth W. Hare of Goldsboro; his brother, Rufus J. Hare and wife Fannie E. Hare of Pikeville; four grandchildren, Susan Herring, Christopher Hare, Elizabeth Van Hoy, and Sarah Van Hoy; two great-grandchildren; step-children, Tim Weeks and wife Nikki of Rocky Mount, Terry Crocker and husband Larry of Wilson, Dennis Weeks and wife Diane of Wilson, Mike Weeks of Kenly, Martin Weeks and wife Ploy of Portsmouth, VA, David Weeks and wife Debbie of Goldsboro, Donna Moore and husband Richard of Hephzibah, GA and Dorothy Holland of Pikeville; sixteen step-grandchildren and twelve step-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 4-6 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his residence.
