Myrtle Holt Hare

July 31, 1907 – November 9, 2004

Goldsboro – Mrs. Myrtle Holt Hare, 97, of 242 Calvin Lane died Tuesday morning at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A native of Johnston County, she was the daughter of the late Jim Holt and Betty Young Holt and was married to the late Louis Russell Hare. Mrs. Hare was a retired bookkeeper and had worked with City Hall and Tart’s Saw Mill in Princeton and also with the city of New York. For many years, she was a cook with the B & G Grill. Mrs. Hare was a member of Brogden United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 6:30 at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Whitfield and Rev. Bill Rose officiating. Interment will be Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park with Rev. Shirley Ward.

Mrs. Hare is survived by her daughter, Marlene H. Edwards and husband, Calvin of Goldsboro; her son, Louis Russell Hare, Jr. of Goldsboro; nine grandchildren, John Harrell, Jim Harrell, Paul Harrell, Anne Barnes, Jenny Coudriet, Lydia Mills, Regina Overbee, Marlene Martin and Cindy Miller; twenty great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday following the service at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home of Calvin and Marlene H. Edwards, 242 Calvin Lane, Goldsboro.
