Dorothy Hall Stallings Harrell

Goldsboro – Mrs. Dorothy Hall Stallings Harrell, 84, of 603 Lockhaven Drive, died Monday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A native of Durham County, she was the daughter of the late Henry Walter Stallings and Martha Maude Hall Stallings.

Mrs. Harrell and her husband served churches in the North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church for thirty eight years, retiring in 1977. She was a dedicated minister’s wife and shared in many projects in all of the thirty eight churches they served. She worked with Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, youth groups, young adult projects in the Conference, Home Extension Clubs, and taught several crafts in schools and churches. She studied architecture at Lenoir Community College in Kinston, and drew many house plans for individuals in several communities where they served churches. She taught ceramics for thirty five years and some of her products are as far away as Australia. She also filled the pulpits for several ministers when they had to be away.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 PM at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. T. C. West and Rev. McGee Creech officiating. Burial will follow at Pineview Cemetery near Seven Springs.

Mrs. Harrell is survived by her husband of sixty four years, Rev. Haywood L. Harrell; her daughter, Genette H. Tate and husband, Walter of Pink Hill; her sons, Linwood Eugene Harrell and wife, Brenda of Fuquay-Varina and Ernest Simpson Harrell and wife, Diane of Snow Hill; five grandchildren, Denise Poole and husband, David of Rolesville, Donna Tillman and husband, J. B. of Pikeville, Dianne Wiley of Pensacola, Florida, Gina S. Harrell of Fuquay-Varina and Christopher Harrell of Ocala, Florida; three great-grandchildren, Thomas Poole of Rolesville, Katie Stilley of Pikeville and Michael Stone of LaGrange; her four sisters, Helon S. Haynes of Raleigh, Virginia S. Taylor of Monument, CO, Blanche Berner of Cordova, TN and Rebecca Coleman of Dunn; and her brother, George Patrick Stallings of White Bear Lake, MN; and a host of nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Stallings.
