James Allen Harris

Goldsboro – Mr. James Allen Harris, 81, of 1503 Palm Street, died Saturday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
 

A native of Wayne County, he was the son of the late Allen M. Harris and Flossie C. Howell Harris. Mr. Harris was the owner and operator of Harris Auto Service in Goldsboro and was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of Daniels Memorial United Methodist Church and was a past master of the Goldsboro Lodge #634 A.F. &A.M. and also served as District Deputy Grand Master and District Deputy Grand Lecturer of the Sixteenth Masonic District.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. T.R. Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Dale Cemetery with Masonic rites.

Mr. Harris is survived by his wife, Ethel Herring Harris; a son, Jerre Lee Harris of the home, a sister, Elizabeth Harris Best of Wilson; nieces, Carroll Best Gaissert of Wilson and Louise Best Brown of Hamilton, VA; and a nephew, John Hilton Best Jr. of Wilson.

The family will receive friends Monday at Seymour Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. and other times at his residence.
