Elna Brahham Harvin

Goldsboro – Mrs. Elna Brahham Harvin of 1314-B Park Avenue, Goldsboro, 100, died May 1, 2004 at her home in Goldsboro. A graveside service will be held in the Manning Cemetery in Manning, South Carolina, on Saturday, May 8, 2004 at 12:30 p.m. Rev. Ryan Rasmussen will be presiding.

Mrs. Harvin was born on April 30, 1904 in Monetta, South Carolina, and was the daughter of the late Rev. Henry Clark Brabham and Helen Seaberg Brabham. Her father was the former pastor of the Manning Baptist Church (1926-1937). Mrs. Harvin was a graduate of Furman University and later taught at Manning High School. She was married to the former Glenn Beckham Harvin, and resided in Raleigh until moving to Goldsboro in 1987. She and her husband were members of Hayes Barton Baptist Church in Raleigh and her husband Glenn was employed by Carolina Power and Light Company in Raleigh until his retirement. Upon moving to Goldsboro, Mrs. Harvin joined the First Presbyterian Church of Goldsboro.

She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Helen Smith of Orangeburg, SC; two sons, Glenn B. “Jack” Harvin of Charlotte, and Allan B. Harvin, M.D. and his wife, Nancy of Goldsboro; four grandchildren, Leigh Rosenberger and her husband, Leon of Ridgefield, Washington; Slade Harvin and his wife, Tammy of Wilmington, NC, Glenn Harvin, M.D. and his wife, Beth of Charleston, SC and Marie Harvin of Greensboro. She had one great-grandchild, Robert Glenn Rosenberger.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Henry C. Brabham of Gaffney, South Carolina.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Hayes Barton Baptist Church, 1800 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh, NC 27608 or to the First Presbyterian Church, 1101 E. Ash Street, Goldsboro, NC 27530.
