Gerald Keith Herring, Sr.


Goldsboro – Mr. Gerald Keith Herring, Sr., 73, of 4831 U.S. 70 East, died Wednesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A native of Wayne County, he was the son of the late Esten Lewis Herring, Sr. and Gladys Williams Herring. Mr. Herring was the owner and operator of Plunderosa Antiques and was a United States Army Veteran.

Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Alan Lamm and long time friend, Graham Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Herring is survived by his wife, Peggy Uzzell Herring; his children, Gerald Keith Herring, Jr., Melanie J. Herring, Timothy U. Herring and wife Phyllis and Angelia Herring Jones and husband, Cleve, all of Goldsboro; his brothers, Lewis Herring, Jr. and Lamont Herring, both of Goldsboro; a sister, Mary Ann Herring of Goldsboro; his mother-in-law, Ruby Smith Uzzell of Goldsboro; and his grandchildren, Paige Boyette, Scott E. Boyette, Jr., Courtney L. Herring, Keith Jones, Janey Jones and Abby Jones.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Roger Herring.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 – 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
